tickles

Sawyer is really looking and acting like a little boy these days. He loves all moving vehicles- here is a quick pic I caught of him looking at a plane.

And if you need a giggle....

Jump jump jump

Love this video- Sawyer and Amato really learned to play together on this trip. Here is a great little video of them playing in Maine.

Sawyer the hiker

This kid can hike! Dan and I took Sawyer to Mt. Sanitas, a local hike where we often take Dezi. Sawyer has taken some short walks on the valley trail here but today he hiked up almost half the mountain trail (a pretty amazing feat)! When we stopped to look at some Boulders off the trail and took him with us he wailed in protest- he just wanted to hike up up up.
He did stop, however, to climb up all the big rocks in the middle of the trail.

We got a couple pictures on the way down.

At the end of the hike, Sawyer was finally ready to be carried.
Dan and I laughed when we saw this photo- this is such a perfect snapshot of our lives: one of us busy with Sawyer and Dezi excited and happy to be in the mix. Hi Dezi, good dog.
And finally, here's a little video as he goes up up up.

Maine!

We had a fabulous trip to Maine at the end of August. Our friends Sacha, Diane, and their boy, Amato, joined us for the week. It was wonderful to see family, enjoy the quiet island, swim, play, and eat. Here are some photos of our time.
We had an epic croquet game- it didn't get documented but it will forever live in infamy because Sacha definitely did not cheat.
Sawyer and Amato worked on their sharing skills- it wasn't always easy but they are definitely laying the foundation of a great friendship!

Bob and Michelle came out to the island for a day and brought a delicious lunch spread. Sawyer had a blast with Michelle and Val at the pool!

We borrowed extra kayaks from the Smiths and took a fun jaunt out to a nearby rope swing. It was high and the ocean was freezing!
The boys in the tub!
Val was able to spend several days with us on the island! We had a really nice visit, Sawyer loves his Nana.
This is seaglass beach. We love it- who wouldn't- beautiful sea glass, mellow toddler-friendly waves, and some yet to be named bioluminescent sea life!
Sawyer was a little freaked out by the waves at first!
The boys loved checking out the snails and the crab that Dan found.
Summer- chocolate ice cream - need we say more?
Post-ice cream mess and haze.
Our trip was bookended by hurricanes- Hurricane Bill at the beginning of the trip dropped torrential rains and Hurricane Danny gave us a really raucous ferry ride back to Portland. We took Sawyer on deck in the sideways-blowing rain and he asked for "more, more, more" as the ferry bobbed like a cork!
This is us up at Popham Beach- near Bath, ME during Hurricane Danny.
A few wrap up pictures from the island- big hugs.
