Thanksgiving

We had a really great Thanksgiving. My folks came out from DC for a few days and we had a really nice time. Here are some pics from their visit. See Sawyer's two bottom teeth?
Practicing standing in the kitchen.
Sawyer, Grandpaji, Omi, and I went for a really nice walk the day before Thanksgiving. We stopped for sandwiches. Sawyer has been totally fascinated with Grandpaji's beard.
Omi brought some books from my childhood including two Dutch books that Sawyer just loved. She was kind enough to translate both books for Sawyer, unfortunately the nice Dutch rhymes didn't translate very well. I plan to try to reinterpret the stories so that they make nice rhymes.
Hanging out... more beard curiosity.
I made more progress on Sawyer's Brown Bear mobile. Here is Brown Bear and his trusty friends before they got hung up on the mobile. And here is the mobile hanging on the wall before it was lofted into Sawyer's room.
Sawyer has been super cuddly lately. Here is a little pic of us.

gym time

I missed posting last night. I got very sick last week with a stomach bug that is all around our community. Dan quarantined me and as a result, I think, both he and Sawyer have emerged unscathed. Nonetheless, I am behind on everything.

I have been taking Sawyer to a place called Gymboree for the last couple of months. He goes to one "class" a week where he gets to see the same kids on a regular basis and then we usually go one other time a week to play on their totally padded indoor playground. It is a great alternative to the park when it is cold and blustery here. Last week, Dan had an hour between work and school and he met up with us for some play time. Here are some pics:

One of Sawyer's biggest tasks of the last week has been learning how to get down from standing with a little more control. Here is a little video we caught.

In other news, Sawyer got his second tooth on Wednesday! It is is the bottom center left tooth. He is a cutie. Still no good shots of his teeth. A few final pics from the week:

A day in the life...

We had a pretty low key weekend. Here are some moments from our days...
Sawyer happy as a clam just after a bath.
Here is a little video of Sawyer's new favorite activity: practicing standing and dismounting! Dan swears he says "I did" at the beginning of the video.

He doesn't go to the dog park with us often but he sure did enjoy watching all the dogs this afternoon! The park was filled with frolicking canines and he just loved it. (Check out the cool red race car shoes he got from the Champ family! Thanks Champs!)

Here is the start to my latest mobile project: a Brown Bear (and friends) mobile. I have decided that Sawyer's room should be filled with mobiles of every theme, shape, and color. Ideally, I will make them all. I used Dan's new scroll saw (he got off of Craigslist for $15!) to cut the shapes (Gold Fish and Yellow Duck bellow). On their way... stay tuned for the final stages and results!

First Tooth!

Sawyer got his first tooth- bottom right front tooth. Looks like the bottom left front tooth is just a couple days away! Chomp Chomp!

Peekaboo Madness

Apologies for the dark video (our living room lights are not bright) but you have to see this one! This is a Sawyer-initiated game of peekaboo. He is ducking behind the side of the couch and popping up to play peekaboo with Dan.

Sawyer has had another amazing week. He is pulling to standing on everything he can touch- usually he is happy about his accomplishments.Sometimes he gets stuck...sometimes he has big tumbles. Most of the time he just practices again and again. He is also beginning to walk alongside the furniture. On Saturday, he climbed a staircase- first try! Just took to it like he had been doing it for weeks.

Going on 7 months!

Sawyer will be 7 months old tomorrow. He has hit 20 lbs and is really thriving. He has added a variety of fruit to his diet and though he prefers most of his food finely pureed, he has started eating small chunks of avocado, potatoes, and tofu. He also loves eating Cheerios and has been picking them up with his thumb and forefinger or thumb and middle finger for weeks.

His crawling has gotten notably stronger in the last week and he is moving faster and faster. This weekend he also started pulling to standing. He loves playing peekaboo and is really enjoying his books.

Here are some pics from the last few days.

Halloween

For Halloween, Sawyer was a bug. I made this little costume for him and we headed down to Pearl Street for the Munchkin Masquerade with Sacha, Diane, and Amato the Lion.

Random Fall Day photos

The weather has been amazing lately- about a week straight of blue skies and 70-80 degree weather. We have been taking full advantage of it!

He is really on the move... on his way out of the yard!
Our friend Jill is pregnant, expecting her second child in April of next year. She and her daughter, Lily, stopped by for a visit. Sawyer initiated this game of peekaboo with Jill. I only caught this short video, but he played for a good 10 minutes straight!
