Sawyer's eyes

When Sawyer was born, his eyes were very crossed. His Nana (Valerie) assured us that Dan and his siblings had crossed eyes at birth and they straightened out on their own. We have been happy to watch his eyes begin to align. They still cross and wander some, but are generally tracking together well and both eyes have a full range of motion. Yay!

Two Weeks

Today, 21 April 2008, Sawyer is 18 days old. We have been home just over two weeks and so much has happened. We were lucky enough to have both grandmothers arrive for the first week. My mother, Antoinette (aka Omi), arrived the day Sawyer was born. Dan's mother, Valerie (aka Nana), arrived a couple days later. They cooked, shopped, walked the dog, and helped us ease into our new lives.

My mother stayed for two additional weeks and at the end of her visit, my father, George (aka O.T.), came out for a few days.

Morning Boys

This morning, I got up to make blueberry pancakes and coffee. When I went to rouse Dan and Sawyer for breakfast, this is the way I found them....
... like father like son...

Light Therapy

Sawyer was born with a rather large hematoma on the back of his head, which resulted in jaundice. The light therapy prescribed by the doctor was an awful plastic light-emitting paddle that he was supposed to lie on 24/7. After a day on the paddle, Sawyer was miserable. Luckily, his bilirubin count went down far enough to discontinue use. We followed up this awful treatment with some good-old sunshine. Here he is basking in the sun in the kitchen along with my plants.

Notice his enormous feet!

He liked the natural light much better.

Here is one of our favorite photos so far:

April 3rd 2008 - Day One

Sawyer was born at 1:07pm on April 3rd, 2008 at the Boulder Foothills Hospital. At birth, he was 7 lbs 11 oz and 21 1/4 inches long.

A spitting image of his father, I think.
